gan began playing football local club, marton hammers before signed sutherland sharks in 2000 when twelve years old , came through youth grades make senior debut club in 2008. debut season shot gan prominence within local media brought growing reputation match. did not disappoint dazzling performances week in week out led him being crowned new south wales premier league player of year, taking out gold medal award competition.


sydney fc

he signed sydney fc inaugural national youth league squad ahead of competition rival a-league clubs.


on 28 november 2008, gan made debut sydney fc against queensland roar 5-minute cameo caught eye.


on 7 december, scored winning goal in 78th minute sydney fc against newcastle jets give them first win in 7 games.


gan given full senior debut on 13 december against central coast mariners. scored second senior goal against melbourne victory long range strike outside penalty area.


gan scored third senior goal against wellington phoenix powerful header corner. goal gave sydney fc 2–0 win on wellington , placed them on top of table, leapfrogging gold coast united.


on 2 december 2010, in second start season, scored opening goal in 3–1 win, once again on wellington phoenix.


he released sydney, along several other players @ end of sydney s 2011 asian champions league campaign.


bonnyrigg white eagles

gan signed bonnyrigg white eagles in nsw premier league, , made debut in round 15 game against sydney united.


sabah fa

on 17 november 2011, brendan joined malaysian club, sabah 1 of 2 foreign players allowed in 2012 malaysia super league. brendan, alongside fellow countrymen, michael baird signed one-year contract sabah.


rockdale city suns

brendan signed rockdale city suns fc nsw premier league next season since no contract extension offered sabah. opportunity, confirmed intention return a-league.


kelantan fa

on november 2013, brendan returned malaysia , signed 3 years contract kelantan. supposed registered local player kelantan did not approval fam because according fam player registered local player required have malaysian identity card or passport. on 6 april, officially obtained identity card , registered kelantan local player on april transfer window.


he made debut during match between kelantan against terengganu ended both side had draw 1–1. in first game of 2015 malaysia super league gan suffered serious torn acl in right knee keep him out of 2015 season. in september 2016 gan suffered acl injury, time in left knee expected keep him out 10 months, ruling him out 2016 aff championship.
