the 27th armoured brigade formed in united kingdom on 26 november 1940 conversion of 1st armoured reconnaissance brigade constituent of newly raised 9th armoured division. brigade used experiment specialised armoured vehicles , on 8 september 1942 transferred 79th armoured division, concentrated various specialised armour units. on 20 october 1943 27th armoured brigade became independent ghq formation, , attached 3rd infantry division spearhead corps landing @ sword on d-day in june 1944.
