Rise of Indian removal policy (1830–1868) Indian reservation



the passage of indian removal act of 1830 marked systematization of federal government policy of forcibly moving native populations away european-populated areas.


one example 5 civilized tribes, removed native lands in southern united states , moved modern-day oklahoma, in mass migration came known trail of tears. of lands these tribes given inhabit following removals became indian reservations.


in 1851, united states congress passed indian appropriations act authorized creation of indian reservations in modern-day oklahoma. relations between settlers , natives had grown increasingly worse settlers encroached on territory , natural resources in west.
