dietrick dining center

dietrick dining center, or dietrick hall, largest of virginia tech s 6 dining facilities, seating 1,100 , serving on average 3,758 students daily. building opened in 1970 @ cost of $2.8 million.


the main dining area, called d2 , known depot @ dietrick prior $6.5 million renovation completed in 2004 converted hall cafeteria-style facility 1 more closely resembles food court. building contains dietrick general store, extension of university bookstore; deet s place , coffee , ice cream shop; , dietrick express, fast food à la carte facility.



west end market


west end market

west end market opened in 1999 virginia tech s second major food court dining facility. adjoined cochrane hall, facility known cochrane dining hall until closed in 1997 remodeling.


west end market recognized in 1999 national association of college , university food services best university specialty restaurant in country , has been rated princeton review 1 of top 3 school dining facilities multiple times, achieving #1 spot in 2006.


west end market offers students meals ranging burgers , pizza (cooked in own stone hearth pizza oven), fresh grilled fish, steaks, , lobster taken jp s chop house lobster tank.



owens hall

owens hall opened in 1940 replacement virginia tech s military mess hall. closed , renovated in 1990s.


the food court contains twelve la carte specialty shops. owens hall voted joe frett weekly have best philly cheesesteaks in u.s. in 1997, section of building called hokie grill & co. remodeled feature chick-fil-a , pizza hut franchises. in first year, chick-fil-a became top-selling of chick-fil-a franchises located on college campuses.

turner place

opened in august 2012, turner place @ lavery hall newest dining hall @ virginia tech. features: atomic pizzeria, jamba juice, 1872 fire grill, qdoba mexican grill, origami (a hibachi grill), soup garden, dolci e caffe, , bruegger s bagels. there 256-seat dining hall corps of cadets.
