in 1945 joined married women s association, argued women s opportunities outside domestic sphere, , equal-pay-for-equal work organisation, run thelma cazalet. along megan lloyd george lobbied labour government introduce equal pay legislation government refused. co-authored liberal report great partnership. presented 1949 liberal party assembly. report called equal pay women, equal training opportunities, better pay , more freedom nurses, greater provision of day nurseries working mothers, , reform of divorce law give woman equal share of marital home after break-up. gorsky told assembly s easier wife out tenant out . assembly adopted report party policy, making liberal policy on women comfortably more radical , forward looking of labour party. elected liberal party council. in 1950 elected president of women s liberal federation. member of liberal party national executive. chairman of women s committee of liberal international. in 1950 liberal candidate swindon division of wiltshire @ 1950 general election. unpromising seat liberal party had never won. again finished third 15% of vote. in 1950 liberal candidate bristol south east division of gloucestershire @ by-election. unpromising prospect liberal party, candidate @ last general election had polled under 10%. vote in by-election poor;



in 1951 liberal candidate carlisle division of cumberland @ 1951 general election. again not promising seat. liberals had not won here since 1918 though @ last election, liberal candidate polled 20%. not match , again finished third.
