beginnings

andronico s first store opened doors in 1929 @ solano ave berkeley location patriarch frank andronico.


bankruptcy , reorganization

andronico s filed chapter 11 bankruptcy in august 2011, in october 2011, company purchased private equity firm called renwood opportunities fund, partnership between renovo capital , rosewood private investments.


new management

late in 2011 during reorganization, executives , buyers once worked whole foods market have joined management team of andronico s. justin jackson, coo, manages remaining 5 stores in san francisco bay area. hired consultant andronico’s after leaving whole foods. john clougher, president of whole foods’ pacific northwest region, chief executive officer of andronico’s briefly before taking title @ a.g. ferrari foods, local distributor owned renovo capital, dallas-based firm acquired andronico’s out of bankruptcy last october. bill andronico, grandson of company’s founder , former president , ceo, chief administration officer.


under new ownership, andronico’s stores remerchandised — dropping approximately 7,000 slow-moving skus , replacing them approximately 5,500 new items. sales @ andronico’s reportedly improved 10%.
