research program

schreiber has nationally recognized research program in mathematics, science, , social science. there have been numerous local , national winners school s research program. students compete in variety of competitions including siemens competition, long island science , engineering fair, , intel international science , engineering fair.


the school s research program has attained nationwide recognition through student success in intel science talent search competition. 2002 2010, school had sixth semifinalists in nation 50, trailing montgomery blair high school (108), stuyvesant high school (103), ward melville high school (85), thomas jefferson high school science , technology (75), , bronx high school of science (59).


recent years

in january 2008, school produced 6 intel science talent search semifinalists, second highest total on long island. additionally, 2 finalists selected school. schreiber 1 of 2 schools produced double finalist winners. along great neck north high school, schreiber produced second finalists in country, trailing stuyvesant high school of manhattan. student schreiber selected 1 of top ten winners of intel science talent search 2008, winning scholarship of $20,000. student ninth-place winner zoology project based on odonate populations.


eight intel science talent search semifinalists selected schreiber in 2006, tying second semifinalists in nation stuyvesant high school. achievement of semifinalists marks fourth consecutive year schreiber high school has been in top 5 schools in united states. year, schreiber produced 1 finalist in competition, ended winning glenn seaborg award.


2000

in 2000, 9 semifinalists selected, leading schools on long island. schreiber ranked fifth nationally , second among comprehensive high schools. furthermore, 3 students chosen finalists, leading schools in country.


ultimately, student schreiber won first place in competition steganography project. encrypted message in gene sequence of dna strand.
