the river rises below mount morgan on northern side of snowy mountains @ 1,650 metres (5,410 ft) , flows north west, joined fifteen minor tributaries towards mouth @ confluence murrumbidgee river @ lake burrinjuck; dropping 1,300 metres (4,300 ft) on course of river s length of 105 kilometres (65 mi).


the majority of catchment (95%) forested upper catchment within kosciuszko national park. catchment 110,100 hectares (272,000 acres) in area. water upper reaches of river diverted tantangara reservoir via aqueduct, otherwise river not dammed.


in 1968 national capital development commission considered building dam @ brindabella valley purpose of sending water cotter river via tunnel.


the bridge on goodradigbee @ wee jasper completed in 1896 , heritage-listed being example of allan type timber truss road bridge.
