Statistics Education in Iran

according 2008 estimates, 89.3% of males , 80.7% of females on age of 15 literate; 85% of population literate. virtually children of relevant age group enrolled primary schools in 2008 while enrollment secondary schools increased 66% in 1995 80% in 2008. result, youth literacy rates increased 86% 94% on same period, rising girls.
a literacy corps established in 1963 send educated conscripts villages. during first 10 years, corps helped 2.2 million urban children , 600,000 adults become literate. corps replaced literacy movement organization after islamic revolution.
in 1997, there 9,238,393 pupils enrolled in 63,101 primary schools, 298,755 teachers. student-to-teacher ratio stood @ 31 1. in same year, secondary schools had 8,776,792 students , 280,309 teachers. pupil-teacher ratio @ primary level 26 1 in 1999. in same year, 83% of primary-school-age children enrolled in school. of 1999, public expenditure on education estimated @ 4.6% of gdp (not budget).
in 2007, majority of students (60%) enrolled in iranian universities women.
according unesco world survey, iran has highest female male ratio @ primary level of enrollment in world among sovereign nations, girl boy ratio of 1.22 : 1.00.
each year, 20% of government spending , 5% of gdp goes education, higher rate other developing countries. 50% of education spending devoted secondary education , 21% of annual state education budget devoted provision of tertiary education.
