formerly state road 954, flagler street received current florida department of transportation designation in 1983, when fdot reassigned route numbers various streets in southeastern florida , removed sr 968 designation north miami boulevard (now state road 922).


sr 968 s original western terminus @ intersection sr 985 (avenue of americas/west 107th avenue). in 1987, fdot truncated westernmost 2 miles of route current configuration. sr 968 s original eastern terminus @ biscayne boulevard (us 1) in miami, until fdot turned on section between 1 , sw 2nd avenue city of miami.


as condition relinquishment of brickell avenue (us 1) city of miami, fdot plans adopt both se 1st street , ne 1st street in downtown miami part of sr 968 , re-connect route biscayne boulevard.
