in 1969, english rock band led zeppelin recorded version of song album led zeppelin ii. intro , outro deliberate homages sonny boy williamson song, whereas rest of track original jimmy page/robert plant composition; however, dixon not given lyric writing credit song. in 1972, arc music, publishing arm of chess records, brought lawsuit against led zeppelin copyright infringement on bring on home ; case settled out-of-court undisclosed sum.


in 1977 interview, page commented:



the thing bring on home, there s tiny bit taken sonny boy williamson s version , threw in tribute him. people say, oh, bring on home stolen. well, there s little bit in song relates had gone before it, end.



plant s harmonica part recorded in vancouver. band went on tour master tapes led zeppelin ii , recorded parts in various studios.


led zeppelin performed song live @ led zeppelin concerts, first appearing encore on band s 1970 uk tour. when played live, song exhibited sharp interplay between page s guitar, john bonham s drums , john paul jones bass. can seen on led zeppelin dvd, features performance @ royal albert hall in 1970. version dating 1972 included on live release how west won listed song medley on cover. bring on home credited dixon, while middle section, newly named bring on , credited bonham, jones, page, , plant.


from 1973, song dropped band s live set list. however, middle section riff retained , served introduction black dog on band s 1973 tour of united states, documented in concert film song remains same.


bring on home played @ reunion of surviving led zeppelin members staged @ jason bonham s wedding reception in may 1990.
