long course events have been competed since inaugural edition of championships in 1973. youngest male swimmer participate in world swimming championships ahnt khaung htut myanmar, 12 years old in 2015. took part @ 100m backstroke , 100m breaststroke events. youngest female swimmer participate in world swimming championships 10-year-old alzain tareq bahrain in 2015. participated @ 50m butterfly , 50m freestyle events.
