ambridge area junior high school located @ 401 first street, freedom. in 2016, enrollment 439 pupils, in grades 7th through 8th, 34% of pupils eligible free lunch due family poverty. additionally, 18% of pupils received special education services, while 4% of pupils identified gifted. according 2015 report pennsylvania department of education, 3% of teachers rated non-highly qualified under no child left behind.

pennsylvania system of school assessments, commonly called pssas nclb related examination given in spring of each school year. seventh grades have been tested in reading , mathematics since 2006. eighth graders tested in: reading, writing, mathematics , science. beginning in spring of 2013, eighth graders, enrolled in algebra take keystone exam algebra @ end of course. testing of 8th grade in reading , mathematics began in 1999, state initiative. testing in science began in 2007. goal 100% of students on grade level or better in reading , mathematics, spring of 2014. tests focus on state s academic standards reading, writing, mathematics , science. standards published in 1998 , mandated pennsylvania state board of education. in 2014, commonwealth of pennsylvania adopted pennsylvania core standards - mathematics.
