the giants opened new home in search of revenge against panthers, had soundly defeated them in last game @ giants stadium. in first quarter, carolina scored stadium s first points kicker john kasay got 21-yard field goal. new york answer stadium s first touchdown quarterback eli manning found wide receiver hakeem nicks 26 yards out. panthers retake lead in second quarter kasay made field goals 52 , 43 yards. manning found nicks again on 19-yard touchdown pass less minute left in first half, carolina quarterback matt moore completed 19-yard touchdown pass wide receiver steve smith 6 seconds remaining.
the giants on top in third quarter kicker lawrence tynes nailed 32-yard field goal, followed nicks third touchdown of game (a 6-yard catch). in fourth quarter, giants added 1 more touchdown running ahmad bradshaw ran 4-yard score. carolina s greg hardy blocked matt dodge punt out of end zone round out scoring safety.
the giants historic win had come price, however; tight end kevin boss left game in first quarter concussion, , beatty, filled in boss afterward, benched broken foot. giants signed tight end bear pascoe practice squad play against colts.
