sir james marshall (1829–1889), british colonial judge helped spread of roman catholicism in ghana , nigeria, buried in churchyard cemetery. wife alice (née young) died in 1926 , buried in churchyard. memorial plaque inside church unveiled on 11 august 1999, 100 years after death.


the knights , ladies of marshall, lay association of ghanaian catholics, visit church in mortlake annually celebrate mass in memory.
