the first , foremost issue slavery, inhibits several of fundamental rights , freedoms humans entitled to, including slaves. slavery dates ancient civilization 7th century bc, when towns , cities began formed, , realization cheap labour needed. first known slaves in ancient greece, both athens , sparta depended solely upon forced labour. in 2nd century bc, rome began increase use of slaves, , increase force used on slaves, going far whip slaves continuing efforts of work. middle ages (6th-15th centuries), slaves used in offices, private homes , armies. arab countries, including yemen, contributed towards growing african slave trade, stations being created slave trading. slaves captured in africa, , traveled in terrible conditions ship countries there demand them. estimated 1 in 6 of these slaves died during journey, kept restrained in chains, poorly fed, , kept in filth. slaves bought arab countries predominantly male, used servants, labourers or soldiers. female slaves used either servants, or sexual slaves . 1688, abolitionist movement had begun, saw beginning of supposed end of slave trade around world.
