Newcastle Breakers History of soccer in Newcastle, New South Wales
the licence taken on in 1987 organisation named newcastle football ltd. played in nsw state league after newcastle rosebuds relegated northern conference of national soccer league. 1988 saw move newcastle australs. newcastle australs, played in nsw state league until 1991. 5 years without national representative, newcastle breakers formed out of nsw state league club newcastle australs. breakers played home games @ breakers stadium in birmingham gardens, suburb in far west of city. since breakers demise in 2000 stadium left dormant until 2005 when redeveloped greyhound racing facility. aside main grandstand , lighting fixtures infrastructure breakers has been removed.
