dini attended scuola normale superiore in order become teacher. 1 of professors enrico betti. in 1865, scholarship enabled him visit paris, studied under charles hermite joseph bertrand, , published several papers. in 1866, appointed university of pisa, taught algebra , geodesy. in 1871, succeeded betti professor analysis , geometry. 1888 until 1890, dini rettore of pisa university, , of scuola normale superiore 1908 until death in 1918.


he active politician: in 1871 voted pisa city council, , in 1880, became member of italian parliament.

he has been elected honorary member of london mathematical society.
