there many factors determine value of certificate. these include condition, age, historical significance, signatures, rarity, demand item, aesthetics, type of company, original face value, bankers associated issuance, transfer stamps, cancellation markings, issued or unissued, printers, , type of engraving process.

uncirculated - looks new, no abnormal markings or folds, no staples, clean signature , no stains

very fine - minor traces of wear

type of company - type of company issued for? industry still exist? has industry changed lot on years?


original face value - how stock or bond issued for? usually, larger original face value, more collectible is.


bankers associated issuance - worked on fund raising efforts? famous or famous bank? bank still in existence?


transfer stamps - certificate have tax stamps on - imprinted or attached? stamps valuable or unusual?
