she married rev. edwin bullard, , sailed burma in 1843 take life-work of proclaiming christian faith dying souls. husband, died in moulmein of cholera in 1847, pioneer in introducing , establishing self-sustaining ministry among karen people, , pioneers, obliged endure, @ first, reproaches afterward praised , imitated him.


the young widow remained in burma infant son. there, met dr. francis mason -she had read of work young woman- had been left widower large family. sought companionship her, bereft widow, of faith , order .


after marriage dr. mason, associated in work among karens toungoo, acquiring influence on karens. later on, entertained peculiar ideas concerning karen language , kingdom of god did not receive approval of missionaries or of management of american baptist missionary union, , created serious division among karen churches of toungoo district. in later years, affiliated church of england.


mason made long journey burma america evangelize christian women go , teach karens. founded woman s union missionary society of america heathen lands, , established karen national institute girls , karen female education society.


after dr. mason s death in 1874, moved rangoon , died on 3 august 1894. son, rev. edwin bullard, became missionary telugus. daughter, ellen bullard, married capt. bustard of british army, , after death, she, too, became missionary in india.
