berlin 1936: 145 one- , two-story apartment buildings, haus der nationen refectory, hindenburghaus theater, hospital, indoor arena, swimming pool , sauna in wustermark 6 mi west of berlin. used barracks on 50 years, ruins remain. jesse owens s house has been restored.
helsinki 1952: first olympic village, olympiakylä, constructed in käpylä district of helsinki planned 1940 summer olympics, cancelled due world war ii. olympic village, kisakylä, built nearby 1952 olympics. kisakylä couldn t accommodate athletes other villages designated instance in otaniemi , santahamina military base. both olympiakylä , kisakylä areas listed docomomo significant examples of modern architecture in finland.

melbourne 1956: area in heidelberg west, victoria, athletes stayed still called olympic village . after games, athlete residences used public housing. area consists of sports center, primary school, shopping strip, community health centre houses registered training organization , legal service.
rome 1960:consist of 33 buildings two, three, 4 , 5 floors.
squaw valley 1960: 4 identical three-story apartment buildings, 2 of still stand, modified condominiums.
mexico city 1968: 904 apartments distributed in 29 multi-story buildings in miguel hidalgo olympic village complex.
munich 1972: multiple buildings of 25, 22, 20, 19, 16, 15, , 12 stories, used olympic village student housing.

montreal 1976: olympic village (montreal), 2 23-story pyramid-shaped buildings. apartment buildings.
lake placid 1980: village built minimum security federal prison house first time offenders after games known fci ray brook. still in use today.
moscow 1980: eighteen 16-story buildings.
sarajevo 1984: apartment buildings used condominiums , tourist facilities.
los angeles 1984: ucla residents facilities, csula, usc, , ucsb.
calgary 1988: presently student accommodations on campus of university of calgary. athlete s village consisted of existing kananaskis, rundle, castle, norquay , brewster buildings, newly constructed glacier , olympus buildings.
seoul 1988: twenty-one multiple-story buildings.
albertville 1992: brides-les-bains
barcelona 1992: new neighbourhood, la vila olímpica, built on reclaimed sea front in poblenou; became residential after games. secondary villages built in banyoles , la seu d urgell rowing , white water canoeing athletes respectively.
lillehammer 1994: village built on west-facing slope north of lillehammer, , took form old farms of gudbrandsdal.
atlanta 1996: housing built on campus of georgia institute of technology, clark atlanta university, , georgia state university. olympic village @ georgia state later bought georgia tech students housing. village on campus of clark atlanta, later became housing students @ cau.
nagano 1998: village located 7 kilometers southwest of nagano station. total land space 19 hectares. there 1032 apartments in 22 buildings, , capable of accommodating 3,000 people. village in karuizawa, site newly entered olympic sport of curling. karuizawa 70 kilometers southeast of nagano city. 120 people 9 countries stayed @ karuizawa skate center hotel during winter games.
sydney 2000: new suburb, newington, became residential following games.

salt lake city 2002: housing university of utah , fort douglas (located on campus).
athens 2004: new suburb composed of four- five-story apartments in parnitha area located in northeast athens adjacent maroussi, suburb main olympic complex, oaka, located. athens olympic village became residential area following games. today, village capacity of approximately 10,000 people in use.
torino 2006: olympic village located in towns of bardonecchia, sestriere , turin.
beijing 2008: beijing olympic village twenty-two 6-story buildings , twenty 9-story buildings (for beijing venue); royal park hotel (for hong kong venue).
vancouver 2010: vancouver olympic village , whistler olympic , paralympic village
singapore 2010 (youth): campus of nanyang technological university
london 2012: new district of london called east village


rio de janeiro olympic village of 2016.



sochi 2014: coastal olympic village , mountain olympic village
rio de janeiro 2016: located in barra da tijuca, close city of sports complex.
lillehammer 2016 (youth): 2 villages, 1 in lillehammer (birkebeineren hotel & apartments plus new residential buildings) , 1 in hamar (the 239-room hotel scandic hamar).
pyeongchang 2018:
buenos aires 2018 (youth): youth olympic village (buenos aires), 1440 new apartments on seven-story buildings in district of villa soldati, within limits of city park.
