in 1972, base turned on south vietnamese government. on april 3, 1975, north vietnamese forces captured cam ranh bay , of remaining facilities. 1979 2002, facility used soviet , russian air force because of 25-year rent-free leasing treaty.


on may 19, 2004, after major reconstruction, airport received first commercial flight hanoi. handles of nha trang s commercial flights, headed nha trang airport. in 2007, cam ranh upgraded international airport. in december 2009, cam ranh international airport opened. total invested capital approximately vnd 300 billion.
