the apertura tournament scheduled played august december 2011. regular-season fixture announced on 21 july 2011 , previous season c.d.s. vida , real c.d. españa played inaugural match on 6 august in la ceiba, ending in 1–1 draw. in round 14, c.d. marathón defeated real españa 2–0 in clásico sampedrano , ensured participation in final round reaching 27 points; meanwhile, real españa qualified postseason in round 15, 2–0 home victory on atlético choloma. on 6 november, club deportivo olimpia defeated marathón 1–0 @ estadio tiburcio carías andino , became third club guarantee spot in final round. after round 17, real españa , marathón had not qualified final round ensured participation in semifinals; vida , deportes savio got in postseason after draws against olimpia , real españa respectively. round 17 defined elimination of atlético choloma. , in last round, c.d. necaxa became last team advance postseason defeating olimpia 0–1 @ tegucigalpa. c.d. motagua, c.d. platense , c.d. victoria eliminated.
