niesiecki born in greater poland burgher family. in 1699 began training jesuit in kraków. 1701 1704 studied philosophy in lublin, earning master s degree. in 1707 niesiecki started studies in theology @ jagiellonian university, graduating in 1711. undertook further study in lutsk, krosno, bydgoszcz, chojnice , kalisz.


between 1715 , 1723 niesiecki worked preacher in masovia, greater poland, lesser poland , ruthenia. taught rhetoric in bydgoszcz , chojnice, , ethics , mathematics in kalisz. 1724 lived in monastery of krasnystaw, engaged in life s work, compiling herbarz polski (polish armorial). niesiecki died there on 9 july 1744.


the first volume of herbarz polski published in 1728 in lwów. niesiecki wanted write in latin, patron, marianna potocki-tarłowa, specified published in polish. because niesiecki tried not use unverified sources , legends, opposed szlachta (polish nobility). continued work; however, there delays in printing next volumes. after fourth volume published attacks nobles increased; sent letters of protest polish , roman superiors. work on fifth volume interrupted death; completed stanisław czapliński, never published. in opinion of historians, work of niesiecki obeys world-standards of genealogy.


in 19th century armorial expanded several authors , published jan nepomucen de bobrowicz in leipzig.
