Description Kasım Agha Mosque
a view south of mosque in ruin after fire of 1919. right in background minaret of odalar mosque, burned. distant minaret belongs kariye mosque.
the edifice has square plan, northeast–southwest orientation. byzantine edifice square in plan, single nave preceded atrium @ ne , projecting room on east side. due small dimensions, building can hardly identified church, rather annex belonging monastery. analysis of brickwork during restoration showed different construction phases, , revealed foundations , surviving walls made of brick , stone. moreover, surveys show during conversion mosque in 1506 atrium , wall of mihrab had rebuilt. @ same time, massive minaret erected on northeast side of building.
