music career
early career

in 1980s, seal spent short time singing in local clubs , bars. in 1987 joined push, british funk band , toured them in japan. in thailand joined blues band while before separating group , journeying throughout india on own. returned england, sleeping on couch of friend julian bunster, model. asked him sing well? received response sang better current artists. first break came s express sharing vocals uk top 10 hit, superfly guy appears in music video. met producer adamski , given lyrics of song killer , huge hit in 1990 , catapulted career.

seal (1991)

seal first came public attention vocalist on adamski single killer in 1990. single reached number 1 in uk. seal subsequently signed ztt records , released self-titled début album (produced trevor horn) in 1991. 2 versions of album known in circulation: original premix version , second, more common version updated mix. attributed demand produced single rushing final album edit and, seal puts it, , producer horn s inability let go .

seal positively received critics. singles crazy , future love paradise , own rendition of killer performed on charts. in particular, crazy became international hit in 1991, reaching number 2 in uk singles chart , number 7 on billboard hot 100 in us. seal stole show @ 1992 brit awards held @ hammersmith odeon, london, first hat-trick of wins in history of event. won in 3 categories: best british male, best british video ( killer ) , best british album (seal).

in 1992 seal appeared on red hot organization s compilation cd red hot + dance, contributing exclusive track crazy (if trev mix) . album, featuring george michael , madonna among others, raised money , awareness in support of aids epidemic donating proceeds aids charities.

seal ii (1994)

after regrouping trevor horn, seal s second album, self-titled, released in 1994. success, album featured singles prayer dying , newborn friend , later receiving grammy nomination album of year. prayer dying became minor pop hit in us, peaking @ number 21 on billboard hot 100. third single, kiss rose , performed modestly when released later featured wider popularity when remixed soundtrack batman forever. kiss rose won grammy award record of year , grammy award song of year in 1996, becoming seal s best performing single on market (it topped billboard hot 100 in late august 1995) , hit number 4 in uk.

human being

in 1998 seal released human being. album product of turbulent time in life, including split , later reconciliation producer horn seal s parting ztt records , signing warner bros. records in 1997. record panned upon release. received gold record certification riaa 2 months after release date. album provided 3 singles, human beings , latest craze , , lost faith .

togetherland

in 2001 fans awaited arrival of new album, announced togetherland. after protracted post-production period album cancelled. official word seal did not think made grade, although conflicts other reports, said album turned down label because producers felt album not commercially successful. so, 1 single released album. heaven released in , featured on family man soundtrack. since december 2006, seal has indicated has plans excerpt cuts togetherland , make them available streaming download. meanwhile, seal co-wrote , provided vocals hit single vision jakatta in 2002. recorded successful duet french singer mylène farmer called les mots during same period. in 2002, seal lent vocals song kind , fourth track on santana s album shaman.

seal iv

in 2003 seal released fourth album, again self-titled, except australia, released under title seal iv. although never achieved sales figures of either of first 2 albums, release brought him public eye in united states , continental europe. singles album included waiting you, together, , love s divine; last released in 2004 , big hit in several european countries.

in 2004 greatest hits album entitled seal: best 1991–2004 released, including cover of bacharach / david classic walk on , cover of echo & bunnymen s song lips sugar . edition of album available included cd acoustic versions of of seal s hits.

live in paris

also in 2004, seal performed shows @ olympia theatre in paris, france. 6 july 2004 show recorded , released 1 year after cd/dvd package, titled live in paris.

in june 2005 seal recorded special concert subsequently released in 2006, entitled 1 night remember, cd/dvd combination. dvd includes special making of documentary in addition live performance. recorded in historic steel mill, altes kesselhaus ( old boiler house ), in düsseldorf, germany, performance includes special version of brahms lullaby seal sings in german , in english exclusive audience. unlike earlier recordings in seal accompanied band, full orchestra , choir of 52 musicians accompanies singer.

seal s seventh studio album, seal 6: commitment released on 20 september 2010 internationally , 28 september 2010 in us. first single secret released 10 august 2010 on itunes in , in uk on 13 september 2010. album said inspired wife, heidi. on 7 november 2011, seal released second cover album of classic soul songs, soul 2 through reprise records.

seal after began work on new album, entitled let yourself, produced again horn. in february 2015, horn said album finished. seal later re-signed perfect songs , had two-week writing period in horn s los angeles studio booked october 2012. stewart copeland (formerly of police) said month on twitter feed horn , crème working seal on project. in april 2013, seal said on twitter new album released in june (which did not eventuate), , tracks included let , ever , laying angel . album later retitled beautifully scarred.
