ny 952q begins @ buffalo city line, picking walden avenue s urban, residential setting. street heads east through town of cheektowaga intersection harlem road (ny 240), walden avenue widens 2 4 lanes , takes on suburban commercial setting. here, homes had lined street replaced shopping centers , stores. continues eastward past smaller commercial establishments new york state thruway (i-90) exit 52, highway widens 6 lanes in advance of sprawling walden galleria shopping mall, located adjacent northeastern corner of interchange. walden avenue remains six-lane road considerable distance past mall, meeting union road (ny 277) , dick road while serving continuous line of businesses.


the commercial strip ends 2.5 miles (4.0 km) east of thruway in depew village limits, @ point road narrows 4 lanes passes under branch line leading nearby main line of csx transportation. walden avenue comes close main line tracks here, gradually moves away railroad enters commercial , residential area of cheektowaga. here, road makes slight turn northeast, beginning linear 10-mile (16 km) stretch takes walden avenue out of buffalo suburbs. road s surroundings remain mixed through intersection transit road (ny 78) north of depew s village center. after transit road, walden avenue enters town of lancaster , crosses northern fringe of village of lancaster, connecting central avenue (county route 57 or cr 57), village s main north–south street.

east of village of lancaster, development along walden avenue begins taper off constant homes , businesses give way large stretches of wooded areas. still, highway passes several cul-de-sacs leading away northern side of road , number of industrial buildings situated adjacent csx mainline, here designated rochester subdivision line. trend changes again after 1 mile (1.6 km) isolated homes on north side supplanted equally isolated industrial warehouses. walden avenue follows csx mainline town of alden, development drops off further. passes north of wende correctional facility , serves small number of commercial , industrial complexes on way intersection genesee street (ny 33). walden avenue , ny 952q end here, while ny 33 continues onto straight route genesee street.
