the summer set formed in 2007 when jess bowen , brothers john , stephen gomez started writing , performing brian logan dales. josh montgomery later joined band in 2008.

prior formation of summer set, jess, john, , stephen played in band called last call camden kennedy brock (the maine (band)) , guitarist weston michl. last call camden released 1 album entitled keep feet on ground before disbanding.

the summer set self-released first ep love love have in november 2007.

the band signed record deal militia group in april 2008. band recorded ep entitled …in color. ep released on itunes on june 24, 2008 , reviewed on several music websites.

the summer set recorded pop punk cover of usher s hit song love in club later year. song released download on buzznet page.

in december 2008, band released third ep meet me on left coast, featured 2 new tracks , cover of love in club itunes bonus track.

the summer set s debut full-length album love released on october 13, 2009.

the band appeared on punk goes classic rock album released on april 27, 2010 fearless records, covering wanna rock , roll nite kiss.

on july 6, 2010, released expanded version of debut album love titled love swift, featured 5 live taylor swift cover songs (recorded @ hoodwink @ 2010 bamboozle festival).

that summer, summer set played entire warped tour 2010 on glamour kills stage. later in year, played on dirty work tour time low, yellowcard, , hey monday

on april 5, 2011 episode of dancing stars, actress chelsea kane , partner mark ballas danced cha-cha-cha set summer set s chelsea . in behind-the-scenes package shown prior dance, kane revealed song written brian dales, whom dating @ time.

everything s fine summer set s second full-length album, released on july 19, 2011 through razor & tie.

the group wrote paul doucette of matchbox 20 , mike daly of whiskeytown in nashville. recorded album producer john fields. “he pushed hard , brought out of us,” said brian logan dales. “we had demos sounded our last record, when done, sounded new , different.”

everything’s fine presented departure summer set’s previous sound, @ times featuring slower tempos , solemn themes. “the title bit sarcastic,” admits gomez. “our first record 1 emotion. everything’s fine yin , yang. we’ve had ups , downs recently, breakups, general trials , tribulations. record says we’re young, growing , experiencing new things.

on may 6, band launched crowd-sourced lyric video you. video featured live video of band taken fans during dirty work tour time low.

on june 6, summer set launched poll asking fans pick next song revealed forthcoming album. song choices included thick thieves , start , when young. after 1 week of voting, when young revealed winner.

legendary

in 2012, band members rented house together, wrote songs , began forming album become legendary. style of communal living , writing unique band , had distinct influence on direction of songs. band has stated time in house inspired of lyrical content , sparked general fun-loving energy of album.

on april 30, 2013, summer set released music video “maybe tonight.” first video released in connection legendary.

in conjunction “maybe tonight” video , band’s call fans “be legendary,” summer set created half moon kids. hmk community forum created share, discuss, encourage, , support creative efforts of summer set’s fans , surrounding community.

as part of hmk initiative, band launched legendary moments campaign. during campaign, summer set helped various fans , fellow band members achieve longstanding goals , dreams.

the summer set released third full-length album legendary on april 16, 2013 via fearless records.

the lead single “boomerang” released in march , accompanying music video released in june.

the second single “lightning in bottle.” associated music video released on april 8, 2014.

in 2013, summer set winners of macy’s iheartradio rising star competition. after contest’s 6 million online votes tallied, summer set announced 2013’s rising stars. winners, band performed @ iheartradio music festival macy’s glamorama events. @ these events, shared stage sheryl crow , backstreet boys.

on november 28, 2013, summer set part of macy’s thanksgiving day parade. performance of “lightning in bottle” featured on television broadcast.

on january 21, 2016, band announced fourth studio album, stories monday released on april 1. released first single album, figure me out. 2 weeks later, released single album, missin you, , third track jean jacket on march 17, 2016. band released music video track wasted on same day album.

on april 4, 2016, summer set played @ bernie sanders rally in milwaukee, wisconsin.

decreasing activity , indefinite hiatus

the summer set toured in fall of 2016 , announced plans tour in spring of 2017. however, spring tour canceled no explanation band. band became inactive on social media , there no word plans future. in spring of 2017, frontman brian dales announced had been working on separate project producer , guitarist matt beckley past 2 years, called dales. on april 30, 2017, dales released first single, young summer.

on may 31st, 2017, bassist stephen gomez implied band may have broken through response question on twitter, later deleted tweet.. summer set still listed on fearless records artist roster on october 17th, 2017, summer set announced going on indefinite hiatus.
