this tiny model tax special introduced in late 1968 fit simca 1000 france s 4cv tax category. engine code type 359.

this tax special offered in spanish market, cars of on 850 cc received heavy tax penalty. called simca 900. car introduced in 1970 40 ps (29 kw) engine. in 1973 reintroduced 900 special, bressel 32 twin carburator , 43 ps (32 kw) @ 5800 rpm.

introduced longitudinal applications (for rear-engined 1000 range), engine called 315. in 1968 version transverse installation (for new front-wheel drive 1100) called type 352 introduced. of improvements applied original version, carried 349 code. in 1973, simca changed engine coding system , longitudinal engine became 1d1 while transverse model became 3d1.

when installed in peugeots, called e1a engine. called type 350 (for transversal installations) or 351 (for longitudinal ones). these became 3e1 , 1e1 respectively in 1973.

the 1204 cc iterations received increase in stroke on 1.1 engine, 70.0 mm (2.76 in), while retaining 74.0 mm (2.91 in) bore. fitted sporting 1100 spécial, carried 353 engine code. rear-engined (longitudinal) version called 354. later engine code changed 1f1 (for single carburettor versions), , after psa s takeover briefly installed in spanish market 205s called f1.

the 1294 cc iteration introduced in 1971, replacing earlier 1204 cc unit used. bore increased 76.7 mm (3.02 in), while stroke remained 70.0 mm (2.76 in). engine code 366 transversal installations, while longitudinal engines called type 371. in 1973, simca changed system , engines became 3g (transversal) , 1g (longitudinal) instead. after psa began closer combine operations of erstwhile simca corporation, engine code changed yet again, g1a, use in 309 , late horizons. 1978 simca 1000 rallye iii had potent unit yet, 1g4c.
