according eurovision rules, nations exceptions of host country , big 5 (france, germany, italy, spain , united kingdom) required qualify 1 of 2 semi-finals in order compete final; top ten countries each semi-final progress final. european broadcasting union (ebu) split competing countries 6 different pots based on voting patterns previous contests, countries favourable voting histories put same pot. on 31 january 2017, special allocation draw held placed each country 1 of 2 semi-finals, half of show perform in. israel placed second semi-final, held on 11 may 2017, , scheduled perform in second half of show.


once competing songs 2017 contest had been released, running order semi-finals decided shows producers rather through draw, similar songs not placed next each other. originally, israel set perform in position 19, closing show , following estonia. however, following russia s withdrawal contest on 13 april , subsequent removal running order of second semi-final, israel s performing position shifted 18.

imri ziv took part in technical rehearsals on 3 april , 6 may, followed dress rehearsals on 10 , 11 may. included jury show on 10 may professional juries of each country watched , voted on competing entries.


the israeli performance featured imri ziv dressed in black sleeveless t-shirt , black trousers. flashing white light backstage took whole video wall, while imri stood sing first verse. white circles projected on led screens during chorus. backing singers dressed in black. imri joined 2 dancers dressed in white. there flashing red , blue lights pulsating in background. in addition that, imri s image projected on video wall. song neared end, flashing orange lights flashed in background.


at end of show, israel announced having finished in top 10 , subsequently qualifying grand final.

shortly after second semi-final, winners press conference held ten qualifying countries. part of press conference, qualifying artists took part in draw determine half of grand final subsequently participate in. draw done in reverse order countries appeared in semi-final running order. israel drawn compete in first half. following draw, shows producers decided upon running order of final, had done semi-finals. israel set open show , perform in position 1, before entry poland.


imri ziv once again took part in dress rehearsals on 12 , 13 may before final, including jury final professional juries cast final votes before live show. imri ziv perform repeat of semi-final performance during final on 13 may.
