ema 2017 21st edition of slovenian national final format evrovizijska melodija (ema). competition used rtv slovenija select slovenia s entry eurovision song contest 2017. competition broadcast on tv slo1, radio val 202, radio koper, radio maribor , online via broadcaster s rtv 4d platform.


competing entries

on 20 july 2016, rtvslo opened submission period artists , songwriters submit songs broadcaster until 3 november 2016. artists competing in selection revealed on 4 december 2016. on 20 january 2017, amaya announced d withdrawing competition on advice of record label. later announced clemens replace amaya song tok ti sede .





format

on 3 december 2016, rtvslo revealed first time since 2008, ema consist of 2 semi finals , final select entrant kyiv, ukraine. sixteen artists competed in ema 2017, 8 songs in each semi final. in 2 semi-finals, 4 songs qualified final 2 songs selected jury , other 2 songs selected slovenian public. voting process final revamped introduction of new regional juries. there 6 regional juries capable of awarding total of 252 points. each jury awarded 12, 10, 8, 6, 4 , 2 points top 6 songs. after jury voting, televoting result revealed host in ascending order. top 6 songs received 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 , 72 points.

the first semi-final of ema 2017 took place on 17 february 2017. 4 acts qualified final on 24 february 2017. 8 competing entries first faced public vote top 2 songs advanced final. other 2 qualifiers selected remaining 6 entries jury.

the second semi-final of ema 2017 took place on 18 february 2017. 4 acts qualified final on 24 february 2017. 8 competing entries first faced public vote top 2 songs advanced final. other 2 qualifiers selected remaining 6 entries jury.




final

the final of ema 2017 took place on 24 february 2017. hosted mario galunič. in addition performances of competing entries, 2016 eurovision winner jamala, 2016 slovenian entrant manuella , toni cetinski performed guests. combination of points public vote , regional jury vote 6 regions in slovenia determined winner. 6 slovenian regions ljubljana, kranj, maribor, koper, novo mesto , celje. eventually, omar naber won national final song on way .
