leg 1 (jakarta → west java)

one of first detour choices in jakarta required teams fix onthel bicycle in fatahillah square overlooking jakarta history museum.

the first detour of race choice between fix , freight. in fix, teams traveled fatahillah square. there, had fix , assemble onthel bicycle s tyre according example. once judge satisfied, receive next clue. in freight, teams headed port of sunda kelapa. fill sack sand in traditional indonesian pinisi , carry fill 4 barrels on dock. once of barrels full, teams receive next clue.

at starting line on sapta pesona building, teams had search through on 1,000 compasses 1 of 10 compasses head 210 degrees southwest , present allan , tara receive next clue. last team without correct compass eliminated.
upon arriving @ kebun raya bogor, teams had search male ondel-ondel dancer holding next clue.
at kebun raya bogor, teams pair male ondel-ondel dancer got previous clue from, taman teijsmann search female counterpart according pattern of scarfs dancers wore. once dancers correctly paired, puppet master give them next clue. teams bring dancers pit stop @ lotus pond.

leg 2 (west java → jakarta → west java)

while in bandung, teams visited famous walini tea plantation in ciater roadblock , pit stop.

during pit stop, teams moved pecenongan street in jakarta begin leg of race. detour choice between basket bikes , bandung biathlon. in basket bikes, teams must ride downhill along 5 km bicycle trail , deliver 2 dozen sell-able eggs in baskets egg merchant. if eggs in perfect condition next clue. if of eggs broke along way, teams have start entire task on again. in bandung biathlon, teams must hit set of targets traditional bamboo guns while trekking uphill in pair of traditional tandem land skis, known bakiak (in indonesian). when hit targets, next clue.

for first roadblock of race, 1 team member had comb large section of tea plantation find hero wayang golek (in indonesian), traditional indonesian puppet figurine. once found puppet, exchange puppet next clue.

additional tasks


in taman mini indonesia indah, teams had ride on grab bikes around park spot 7 marked letters (b, a, n, d, u, n, g). once done, had make way tugu api pancasila monument , write down on provided chalkboard word bandung, spelled out next destination, receive next clue.

leg 3 (west java → malaysia)

one of detour choices in george town, penang had teams identify pieces of street art around armenian street.

during pit stop, teams moved merdeka street in downtown bandung begin leg of race. in leg s roadblock, 1 team member had rappel down 300 foot (91 m) building of great eastern tower , grab flag attached on building in exchange of next clue. if teams missed flag or dropped it, must attempt challenge again.

for detour, teams chose between street art , street play. in street art, teams must ride traditional trishaw around armenian street in george town, penang , find 5 penang street arts in city centre according pictures given. then, needed convince locals take picture @ each of murals. each photo taken must satisfy number of specific poses , tourist participation. once got 5 photographs @ each of murals, receive next clue. in street play, teams traveled han jiang ancestral temple. then, must learn perform two-minute chinese opera fight routine before performed in front of judge musical accompaniment. if judge satisfied performance, receive next clue.

at start of leg, teams headed garuda indonesia head office @ senayan city in jakarta, indonesia purchase airline tickets kuala lumpur.
at waterfall hill temple, teams had climb 500 steps summit of temple receive next clue holy man.

leg 4 (malaysia → thailand)

while in thailand, teams experienced riding elephant in phang nga province

the leg s detour choice between muay thai or un-tie. both detour choices had teams traveled wat tha chat chai, overlooking sarasin bridge. in muay thai, teams must learn traditional wai kru ritual before performing muay thai master. if master satisfied, receive next clue. in un-tie, teams must first untie knots on rope. then, using pontoon raft, teams had cross water shoreline floating village nearby pulling along aerial rope course in attempt retrieve clue. once had retrieved clue, return again shoreline.

the leg s roadblock required 1 team member remain still 15 minutes while balancing stack of coins on backhands , head. if balance coins until time finished, receive next clue; otherwise must start task again.

at phang nga elephant park, teams must collect pineapple leaves feed elephants. once had gathered enough pineapple leaves, must go through marked path , bring elephant river riding on elephant feeding area. once had fed elephants, receive next clue.
upon arriving @ lay pang beach, teams find next clue @ coconut stand. after getting clue @ coconut stand, teams instructed bring 2 coconuts down beach nearby pit stop.

leg 5 (thailand → vietnam)

teams ended leg of race @ quách thị trang roundabout overlooking famous landmark of ho chi minh city, chợ bến thành.

while in philippines, teams visited old city of vigan, 1 of world’s new7wonders cities.

leg 7 (philippines → singapore)

the roadblock in singapore had teams dive inside s.e.a. aquarium s open ocean tank in resorts world sentosa, largest oceanarium in world.

the leg s detour choice between skate rat , drone hat. in skate rat, 1 team member must skate using electric skateboard , complete slalom course while carrying 2 trays of stacked cans. if can complete slalom course without falling down or disturbing balance of stacked cans, receive next clue. in drone hat, 1 team member had pilot remote controlled drone helicopter , land on helipad placed on helmet worn teammate. once drone helicopter had landed, receive next clue.

during pit stop, teams moved grand copthorne waterfront hotel in robertson quay begin leg of race. speed bump required eric & rona blindfolded , drink cup of traditional indonesian herbal concoction, known jamu. then, must open blindfolds , search among several bottles 1 held same herbal concoction have drank. if guess correctly, continue racing.

in leg s first roadblock, 1 team member must tightrope walk above 160 feet (49 m) of opening of cave. then, in middle of tightrope, had climb down rope ladder retrieve clue beneath them. once had retrieved clue, must ascend , return reunited partner before continue racing. should clue had retrieved fell down or fell off tightrope, must wait turn before continue task on again.

in leg s second roadblock, team member did not perform first 1 have walk around holiest inner zone of temple compound while memorising on name , location of hindu deities inside temple. then, given map of temple compound , had label location of hindu deities names. once had correctly labelled location of hindu deities, receive next clue.

after second roadblock, teams must participate in traditional yogyakarta archery of jemparingan mataraman, whereby each team member must hit bull’s eye target arrow while sitting down receive next clue.
upon arriving @ alun-alun selatan, had find next clue, attached in 1 of cycling car, known odong-odong.
at alun-alun selatan, teams had convince 2 locals join them take ride on odong-odong around town square receive next clue. then, have ride again on odong-odong ndalem ngabean in order reach pit stop.

leg 9 (yogyakarta → east java)

while in banyuwangi, teams visited ijen volcano roadblock involving traditional sulfur mining industry.

in leg s roadblock, 1 team member must take part in labour-intensive sulfur mining operation, have collect , carry sulfur slabs using 2 baskets on pole crushing area. then, must crush slabs smaller blocks, pack them inside sacks , carry them weighing area. once had collected 80 kilograms (180 lb) of sulfur, receive next clue.

in leg s detour, teams must choose between dragon horse , human bull. in dragon horse, teams must participate in traditional art of jaran kencak (in indonesian), have decorate , dress horse use in wedding ceremony procession. once approved judge, must go on procession – riding on horse-drawn carriage – before receiving next clue newlywed couple. in human bull, teams had transfer handful of rice husk across paddy field empty basket on other side. however, must avoid kebo-keboan, human dressed bull, block way basket. once basket filled, receive next clue.

at pantai mertasari, teams must participate in traditional indonesian pole climbing, known panjat pinang (in indonesian), whereby each team member must climb slippery pinang palm tree pole retrieve marked item @ top of pole. once had 2 items, receive next clue.
