timon , pumbaa main characters in followup, , revealed have passed , caused key events in first film before first appearance. timon, mother ma , uncle max part of group of meerkats lived on savannah, unable job properly, , led meerkat being eaten hyenas shenzi, banzai , ed (pumbaa revealed have blocked out part of scene sitting on remote). feeling depressed, received counsel rafiki, taught him hakuna matata philosophy , told him beyond see. timon took literally, , set off find ultimate paradise. along way, first encountered pumbaa, , 2 became friends. on way find paradise, passed presentation of simba (it turns out pumbaa accidentally passed gas , smell made few animals collapse, causing other animals think bowing , later bowed) , mufasa puzzled @ seeing , majordomo zazu tells him bowing son; simba, nala, , when animals singing can t wait king (it timon hit elephant s leg stick, causing tower of animals collapse); elephant graveyard mufasa on way save simba , nala hyenas ( see carnivores ); hyenas marching prepared ( tells me ain t traveling company of riverdance ); , wildebeest stampede ( shall run our lives? oh yes, let s. ). finally, reach beautiful oasis , enjoying life until find collapsed simba. after rescuing simba, timon , pumbaa find hands full trying keep mischievous cub.


the film shows more of simba s life timon , pumbaa before nala came along, stating simba had beaten timon in every bug-eating contest had done 1 another. timon , pumbaa, afraid nala take away friend, attempted spoil simba , nala s date letting out bees, spider, , tripping 2 (explaining why fell down hill in first film), failed. later on, see simba , nala quarrelling. mistake appearance of mufasa s ghost bad weather ( think storm coming head ). after realize simba has gone take rightful place king, revealed pumbaa had set off simba before timon, indifferent , reluctant. timon came senses rafiki s continued advice, , followed, after rafiki says, work here done. duo provides hula distraction (shown in first film. apparently timon s fault because before did dance, asked simba plan past hyenas, simba replies live bait. when timon realizes , pumbaa live bait, sarcastically asked simba want me do? dress in drag , hula? . few seconds later, hyenas wake , see timon in hula skirt, flower, , flower necklace , pumbaa cooked pig), 2 run ma , uncle max, had been searching timon ever since left meerkat colony. later on during fight, defeated hyenas digging massive tunnel network, sending hyenas down pride rock take revenge on scar had betrayed them. scene explains happened timon , pumbaa while simba fighting scar. after scar killed in first film , film, timon , pumbaa show alive , unharmed against hyenas chased them, suggesting audiences have either outsmarted or beat hyenas in first film. @ end, timon takes entire meerkat colony live in oasis, free threats.


despite appearance of timon s mother, ma (who given reference in @ least 1 episode of timon , pumbaa) , uncle max (believed great uncle due age-which may premature-and fact ma calls him uncle max), timon s father never mentioned. however, in deleted scenes, timon s father active character, though apparently replaced uncle max.
